MISSION

SmartSoil Energy is a landfill-gas-to-energy system provider and project manager. SmartSoil increases the municipal and pulp & paper landfill gas production with its state-of-the-art technology. Its SmartSoil-Biogas system fully exploits landfill gas potential, producing a stable and high energy gas fuel with high and stable revenues.



TRACK RECORD

Since its creation, SmartSoil Energy Inc shows remarkable dynamism. Here a summary of the company's great achievements as of today.

2007
Obtaining energy production projects in Mexican landfills:  

City of Ciudad Juarez landfill, in the State of Chihuahua, will produce 6.4 MW of electricity. The project will be completed early in 2008.
Cancun landfill, in the State of Quintana Roo, a project estimated at 6.4 MW of electricity. This project will be operational by late 2008.

Official opening of the 10 MWe Lachute site.

2006

2005
The mother company, Soconag Environmental Experts, Inc. received $4.5 million in financing from Brookfield Technology Fund (BTF), a specialist investment fund established by Brookfield Asset Management (formerly Brascan Asset Management) to invest in early stage, technology based companies with high growth potential. SmartSoil benefits from this good news as this fund will help achieve its goals.

2004
Lydia Énergie purchase a SmartSoil-Biogas System for the Lachute landfill to produce 10 MWe. Lachute has 5,000,000 tons of waste and an annual recharge of 450,000 tons per year.

2002
Creation of SmartSoil Energy.

SmartSoil technology was chosen by Québec's Energy Efficiency Agency (l'Agence d'efficacité énergétique du Québec) as one of Québec's top eleven technologies for reducing greenhouse gases emission.


1997
SmartSoil is certified through the Environmental Technology Verification Program (ETV) for its unique capability to monitor and control pressure patterns and flow rate distributions in porous media.

1995
A patent is deposited in Canada in order to protect SmartSoil-Biogas technology. Since then, SmartSoil is protected against any form of imitation in over 18 countries.

1985-1995
SmartSoil Energy's parent company (SOCONAG) performed an aggressive research program called REACH (Research on Efferent Amendment Conveyed Horizontally). The REACH program is a success and led to the generic brand name SmartSoil.
