PERIBONKA

The Sawmill Landfill is located in the Province of Québec.  The disposal site, which has accumulated 1.2 million metric tons of wood chips, falls under the category of Forest Solid Waste (FSW) landfills and is located approximately 5 km from a sawmill.

The biogas captured at the landfill will be used as a substitute to butane gas, currently the energy source used to power the dry kilns used at the sawmill. The advantages of the SmartSoil Gas Production System lies in the capability to produce energy from a FSW landfill under extreme weather conditions.
