Canada Joins International Climate Change Partnership

Montreal, Quebec, April 15th, 2005 –SmartSoil-Energy is pleased to announce its participation in the Methane to Markets Partnership. SmartSoil-Energy joined the Partnership on March 8 in San Diego, as its first Canadian partner. This international initiative, which was launched on November 16, 2004 by George W. Bush, is managed by the US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), and aims to advance “cost-effective, near-term methane recovery and use as a clean energy source”.

The initiative has several objectives that are compatible with the work of SmartSoil-Energy. First, the Methane to Markets Partnership targets landfills as one of three major methane sources. Also, the Partnership aims “to reduce global emissions to enhance economic growth, promote energy security, improve the environment, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions”. “We look forward to our involvement in this worthwhile initiative, which encourages strong participation from the private sector, as we know our technology can assist the Partnership in reaching its goals”, says Marc-Antoine Pelletier, C.E.O. of SmartSoil Energy.

As part of its marketing strategy, SmartSoil-Energy will soon meet with representatives from US EPA to obtain the organization’s support for the BioFuelCell, our latest technology capable of stabilizing waste in only 5 years. Without a doubt, the EPA’s support will have a positive impact on business development in Canada, the United States, Latin America, and around the world.
